New Seward Highway Rabbit Creek Road to 36th Avenue

Ongoing preliminary engineering and environmental analysis have yet to identify significant impacts associated with the proposed improvements to the New Seward Highway between Rabbit Creek Road and 36th Avenue. As a result the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities and the Federal Highway Administration have changed the level of NEPA documentation from the previously defined Environmental Impact Statement to an Environmental Assessment. Development of the Environmental Assessment has experienced a hiatus over the past two years as the Anchorage 2020: Anchorage Bowl Comprehensive Plan, followed by the Anchorage Bowl 2005 Long-Range Transportation Plan, have been developed and approved. The New Seward Highway Rabbit Creek to 36th Avenue Environmental Assessment is consistent with both of these important planning documents.

The Environmental Assessment (EA) and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) are available. Opportunities for review are as follows:
