Logging along the Cedar River in 1911 was eventually disallowed by the City of Seattle to protect the watershed.Between 1900 and 1924, little care was given to the watershed's forest. Timber removal, frequent fires, careless logging camps, and sawmills within the watershed added to the environmental impact. Only in the latter part of the 20th century have efforts been made to restore and preserve the natural environment within the City's watershed without affecting the delivery of quality water to King County residents.
