Proposed Action

Our Preferred Alternative for SDS is a 53-mile-long underground pipeline originating from Pueblo Dam. It also includes one pump station in Pueblo County, plus two pump stations, a water-treatment plant and two reservoirs in El Paso County.

A pipeline from Pueblo Dam is the most cost effective and efficient option among the hundreds of possible combinations considered because it:

• There are significant operational efficiencies with taking our water directly from Pueblo Reservoir.
• Lower construction costs than other options.
• Will increase our overall system reliability in the event other parts of our system need maintenance or repair.
