Getting Water to Colorado Springs

"I support Colorado Springs taking the water it owns from Pueblo Reservoir, for their business futures, and for ours. I support Colorado Springs on SDS."
-- Pat Pate, Pate Construction, Pueblo

Pueblo Dam

A pipeline from Pueblo Dam is the most cost effective option among the hundreds of possible combinations we’ve considered for delivering the water we need for our future. A pipeline from Pueblo Dam makes sense because it:

Makes use of water rights we already own on the Arkansas River. Some of the other proposals we considered would require using water from areas where we don’t own water rights.
Follows the shortest, most direct route for delivering the water needed for our future.
Will increase our overall system reliability in the event other parts of our system need maintenance or repair.

However, if we elect not to build our pipeline though Pueblo County then our next choice is to build the pipeline through Fremont County – Alternative 7 in the Draft EIS published by the Bureau of Reclamation – using our existing water rights.
